If only I knew before hand, I would have paid cash for my recent bout of retail colour therapy.
I manage the household finances and my husband never looks at the Visa bills. However, he received a unexpected phone call from Visa the other day because they thought our cards had been compromised.
“Thanks for bringing this to my attention.” he said. “I wasn’t aware of the purchases, but they do sound about right. They match everywhere my wife has been recently!”
Oh crap . . . BUSTED!
Nordstrom’s Rack, Esmeralda Spa, Saks Off Fifth, Winners, Toys R Us (colourful toys for the grandkids of course) . . .
In my defense, the tiresome white and grey winter landscape has been getting me down. So when I read an article reminding me that you can lift your spirits and coax a smile by simply adding colour and whimsical accessories to your home, it just made sense that it should also include my wardrobe.
Now just so you know, I do not advocate that everyone hide expenditures from their significant other, but I do agree with the importance of colour in your home.
And that is just what we did for Monika Siebert, a Calgary based Colour Expert and Interior Designer.
To lift her spirits and highlight her love for the colour purple, we framed one of her certificates.
No one single frame had the colour or character we needed so we simply “stacked” two different frames together:
A Square Avand-Garde Fushsia and A Beveled Lipped Easter Egg Purple.
The classic wide neutral white colour top mat keeps the design timeless and a 3/4 inch deep purple bottom mat visually ties the package together thru a repetition of colour from the frame design.
A great pop of colour for her office.
And, of course, a great way to lift the spirit and coax a smile.
And who doesn’t want that?!
