I am often very moved by the stories behind the objects clients bring in to be framed.
Such was the case with Mary.
Mary brought in a striking jade pendant that was intended as an anniversary gift from her husband 17 years ago.
Unfortunately, he passed away suddenly the day before their anniversary.
Mary has never worn the pendant but decided that this year and specifically this month, she would treat herself to framing.
The month of May is significant not only as the anniversary of their wedding and his death but also his birthday month.
I stitched the pendant with invisible thread onto a raised small platform against a black suede mat so it looked like it was floating.
To highlight the colour of the pendant we used a deep emerald green suede top mat and accented it with 1/4 inch vivid light jade bottom mat.
A decorative gold frame added additional richness and depth to the finished piece.
Sentimental items that we do not use or wear can be an uplifting reminder of important people and cherished moments when displayed as art.
I would love to hear the heartwarming stories behind your special objects.
