I am always busy this time of year framing memorabilia for gift giving.
I don’t want to ruin any Christmas surprises for this year so . . .
Instead I thought I would share a framing project I did a few years ago for Betty S. who jokingly likes to refer to herself as my bag lady.
Betty and Marie have been BFF’s (Best Friends Forever) since the late 50’s in grade school.
Early on in their friendship Marie decorated a paper bag and filled it with little treats for Betty’s birthday. The idea was for Betty to use the same bag and reciprocate on Marie’s birthday.
This tradition lasted through out grade school, junior high and high school. After that it was more sporadically exchanged. Every so often the bag would get lost in life’s shuffle for a short period of time but would always resurface.
Eventually, Betty was “left holding the bag” sort of speak.
For Marie’s 50th birthday we framed the bag to match the fun and festive spirit in which it was first given.
Now the bag is safely and prominently displayed.
It is as a testament to a life time friendship and amazing connection between two very special “bag” ladies.
Do you have a friendship that has stood the test of time?
