I wasn’t expecting such an intense reaction.
My future daughter-in-law, who sells her handmade wool goods on Etsy, gave me a cute crocheted coffee cozy last weekend.
This morning while enjoying my hot flavoured coffee, I leaned in to savour the aroma and got an unexpected and pleasant surprise.
The small engraved wooden label stitched to the coffee cozy has a faint but piquant fragrance of smokey applewood. It reminds me of engaging vacations were my husband and I would search for hidden gems off the beaten path to indulge in our favourite food.
(Chocolate you say? Good guess but no, it’s not chocolate.)
We both LOVE, love, love southern, low and slow, BBQ.
“That sublime concoction of a nostalgic campfire, savoury wafts of sizzling proteins and lipids, and the wisp of aromatic herbs and spices that create an amalgam of pure olfactory heaven.”
If you could see me now, I think you would chuckle. I have my nose buried in the cozy and I can’t get enough of the scent.
Next time you are looking for a special gift, why not choose something that has the power to rekindle uplifting memories.
Take my client Cindy for example.
We chose to float mount (edges showing to give the appearance of floating within the frame) three separate 1950’s circa toy train magazine advertisements.
They were a gift for her father who grew up around toy and real trains.
No matter how old or how new, any reminder of a great memory has the power to inspire, motivate, and, well, basically, brighten your day!
It did mine.
And isn’t that what you ultimately want a gift to do?
